Pool filter

Pool filters

The pool purifier with sand filter is the most common and most demanded on the market.

The sand filter can generally also be filled with glass and retains slightly larger impurities. It can be said that it is the most classic filter, mainly used in built-in pools or larger pools.

Additionally, it is a powerful filter that adapts to harder water. They are large but easy to install and remove, as well as to maintain. Sand filters retain water impurities in the filtering material we use: silica sand or glass.

Discover all available options regarding pool filters and purifiers: sand filters, cartridge filters, and complete filtration systems that incorporate filter and suction pump all in one.

Filtration pump for pool

Pool pumps

The filtration pump is the heart of our pool filtration system. It is responsible for drawing water and carrying it to the filters so that it can be properly purified.

With this in mind, the most important thing is that the power of the pool pumps is correct; it must also be verified that this power is exactly what the filter requires to function properly.

Sometimes, this filtration pump is also used to operate hydraulic and manual pool cleaners. In these cases, it is advisable to check the minimum horsepower required by our pool cleaner to operate.

The power of the filtration pump will depend on many factors. It will obviously depend on the size of the pool. The larger the pool, the more power the pump will need to be able to draw the water.

Likewise, it is also essential to consider the diameter of our sand filter and other aspects such as the power supply the filtration pump will need, taking into account factors like location and nearest power outlet.

Complete pool filtration system

Complete filtration systems

In our catalogue, you can also find complete filtration systems for pools. It is a complete pool purifier. A system that includes pump and filter, all in one. It is the most compact and convenient solution for pool maintenance. Monobloc filtration systems that are especially useful in above ground pools, inflatable pools, or steel pools, among others.

The size of these compact filtration systems has a block system that greatly reduces their size. However, the filtration quality will never be compromised, remaining excellent.

Containers and compact units for pools

Containers and compact units

In the Outlet Pool catalogue, we also find containers and compact units. These products are the place where the filter and pump will be installed. That is, they are containers for filtration systems also known as technical rooms for pools.

These containers or compact units are divided into two groups. On one hand, there are those installed underground, with a surface lid for easy access. On the other hand, there are containers or compact units placed on the surface, to be mounted on the ground.

AstralPool Counter-current swimming

Counter-current swimming

Counter-current swimming systems are also pumps and equipment that propel the pool water; however, in this case, it is not to clean the water but to swim without easily reaching the end of the pool.

These systems create water resistance that prevents the swimmer, to a greater or lesser extent, from advancing in the water. These systems are widely used to practice counter-current swimming.

It does not matter if you do not have a large pool to take big strokes. Precisely, these counter-current systems are designed for those pools, so that the space and size of the pool are not a barrier when training or doing sport.

Counter-current swimming systems are also very easy to install. Additionally, it is possible to regulate the flow to obtain different resistance levels depending on the needs of the user, as these systems are suitable for experts and advanced swimmers, but also for beginners.

AstralPool electrical panels

Electrical panels

The electrical panel is an important piece within a pool filtration system. Any purifier will need an electrical panel to manage its operation and draw the necessary electricity to start the system.

There are very different models, some more sophisticated than others. Thus, the best brands on the market include timers and other extras that help manage lighting, heating, and disinfection systems in addition to filtration systems.

Selector valves for pool filters

Selector valves

Selector valves or six-way valves are an indispensable element for our filtration system. They carry out the different interconnections that our filtration system may have to perform its different functions, whether it is regular filtration, filter cleaning, pool draining, etc.

We have selector valves from the main filter manufacturers in the sector. If you cannot find a specific model, please contact us so we can help you find the six-way valve your filtration system needs.

Filtering media for pool filters

Filtering media

The filter and pump of our pool are as important as the filtering material inside. Proper maintenance of our filtration system will provide the best results for our pool water and ensure it lasts as long as possible working like the first day. It is recommended to change the sand or glass inside our filter every 3 to 5 years approximately, always depending on the use and conditions of our purifier.

At Outlet Pool we offer all kinds of filtering materials, from sand and glass with different granulometries to innovative systems like Aqualoon, so you can find the one that best suits your preferences.

How does a pool filtration system work?

A filtration system is necessary to purify the water of any pool. These filtration systems work to achieve clear and impurity-free water, perfectly suitable for swimming.

For pool water to be filtered, there must be movement through the filtration circuit. Suction, filtration, and propulsion are the stages that will make it possible for us to enjoy a clean water in our pool; having very little water circulation will produce stagnant water, an absolute risk for algae growth and areas full of microbes and bacteria.

It should be noted that the purification and cleaning of pool water depends 80% on the filtration system and only 20% on the chemical products used to treat it. Therefore, it is essential to have a good filtration system that can perform these three stages: suction, filtration, and propulsion.

Suction

The first step in the filtration process is suction. The water will be sucked through the skimmers thanks to the suction created by the filtration pump. Skimmers are located on the vertical walls about 3 cm below the pool edge and never less than 40 cm from the corners.

One skimmer will cover between 25 m² and 35 m² of water surface, with a flow rate between 6 and 10 m³ per hour.

Skimmers have a basket that collects branches, grass, and leaves, among other debris. Additionally, some have a flap that prevents impurities from returning to the pool.

Pool suction system

It should be noted that if hydraulic or manual pool cleaners are used, they connect to the suction intake, causing water to enter the filtration system through the cleaner, thus purifying the water while simultaneously cleaning the pool walls and floor.

As we have seen, water circulation is made possible by the suction pump. The function of this pump is to keep the water continuously circulating through our filtration or purification system. Therefore, it is important to consider the power; the larger the pool and installation, the more powerful the filtration pump should be.

2

Filtration

The filtration stage is when the water passes through our pool purifier to filter out dirt particles and impurities. The result is purified water ready for swimming.

Filtration system

The diameter size of this filter will always be determined by the size and power of the pump. Additionally, the flow rate of the pump and the filter must always be equivalent.

The pump sends the circulating water to the filters. These filters can be either sand or cartridge and are responsible for removing dirt particles from the pool water.

3

Propulsion

Once the filter has done its job, the water must return to the pool. For this, it must circulate through the propulsion nozzles, either directly into the pool or passing through a heat pump in the case of heated pools.

Propulsion nozzle system

The propulsion nozzles should be placed in the same direction as the prevailing wind in the area, opposite the skimmers.

These elements are installed between 25 and 50 cm deep. Additionally, there must be a separation of at least 70 cm between them.

For this entire filtration circuit, water must circulate through pipes. These pipes must be adapted to the pool volume. Also, their diameter size is related to the distance between the pool and the technical room where the filtration pump is located.

Other factors that may influence the type of pipes include the site's topography. Likewise, the number of bends should be minimized to allow better water circulation.
