4. We assemble it
5. We fill it with water

Removable or above-ground pools are an ideal solution to have a pool at home with a reasonable budget and without the need for complicated installations.
The key to their success is the great flexibility with which they adapt to any space thanks to the wide variety of models and sizes currently available on the market. Generally, they are easy-to-install models that come with assembly kits so you can do it yourself at home, without construction work and without complications. Additionally, we can install them anywhere with available space; some models are even suitable for being buried or semi-buried.
When the swimming season ends, you may also want to dismantle the pool and store it until the next season. This allows you to use that space during the winter months for whatever you want.
At Outlet Pool we have practically all the models and brands available on the market. Count on our support and advice to find the pool that best suits your needs.
Next, we will list the advantages of each type of removable pool.
Advantages of a Removable Pool
If we look at the types of above-ground pools, we could group them into: steel pools, wood pools, tubular PVC pools, and inflatable pools. Within these types, we will also differentiate pools that, due to their characteristics, are ideal for the little ones at home; we will call these children's pools. Let's then see the advantages of each type of removable pool.
Wood Pools
Removable wood pools are covered with natural wood treated against moisture and fungi, making it possible to install them outdoors and withstand the passage of time. They are pools with simple installation and usually come equipped with filtration systems and ladders. These pools can be suitable for burying or semi-burying.
Advantages of wood pools:
Aesthetics: we cannot deny that aesthetically they are the most attractive pools. Pools that give a warm look and even a touch of distinction to any garden or terrace.
Simple installation: as with other removable pools, wood pools are easy to install, without additional construction work.
Great durability: we must not forget that wood is a natural material with great durability. Well-maintained pools can last many years. However, we need to follow the maintenance advice of each manufacturer.
More affordable than built-in pools: wood pools are more expensive than other removable pools. Nevertheless, they are still more affordable than built-in pools.
Steel or Sheet Metal Pools
Steel pools are among the most durable within removable pools. No maintenance is needed on the structure as they come prepared to resist rust, allowing them to be left outdoors all year round. They are very cost-effective as they can last several years in very good condition.
Advantages of steel pools:
Affordable: they are more affordable than built-in and wood pools.
Large size: they have great resistance to water pressure, so you will find models with large capacity.
Durable: they are resistant to use thanks to the hardness of the material they are made from. They also offer firmness and consistency.
Aesthetic: available in different finishes so you can find the one that best fits the environment where you will install them.
Clean material: steel is a very clean material and easy to maintain and clean.
Eco-friendly pools: these pools are made with fully reusable materials that respect the environment.
Composite Pools
Home composite pools are made from a material based on wood and resin. Composite materials can also include fiberglass, carbon, and even ceramics. A material that neither rots nor splinters. An alloy capable of incredibly resisting the passage of time.
Advantages of composite pools
Easy assembly: these pools are easy to assemble and also easy to move around.
Maintenance: pools with very simple and practical maintenance.
Elegance: very elegant pool models that will fit any garden or terrace style.
Affordable: affordable compared to other pools like built-in ones.
Hypoallergenic material: composite is a hypoallergenic material in most cases.
Tubular PVC Pools
These pools are very popular within the group of removable pools and offer an excellent quality-price ratio. They feature a 3-layer resistant PVC liner and a metal tubular structure that supports and gives great strength to the whole.
Advantages of tubular PVC pools:
Affordable: tubular pools are more economical models, making them a very interesting option for those with space who do not want to invest too much.
Durable: PVC pools are very durable, contrary to what one might think. They withstand the passage of time very well, including exposure to sun and ultraviolet rays.
Versatile: available in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, rectangular, circular, oval... This way you are sure to find the one that best fits your space.
Easily dismantled: they can be emptied and dismantled in winter. If properly maintained, this operation can be performed for many years.
Well equipped: usually supplied with the necessary accessories for proper maintenance and use of the pool. Additionally, there is a wide range of products and accessories on the market especially for them.
Inflatable Pools
Inflatable pools do not require a supporting structure. They are the best alternative when space is limited and budget is tight. Their maintenance and installation are very simple, and they provide a safe environment for the little ones.
Advantages of inflatable pools:
Easy to assemble: removable pools are generally quite easy to install, but inflatable pools are the simplest to set up. You only need a pump to inflate the pool.
A pool easy totransport: inflatable pools can be easily transported to place them in another house or location. If we are going to visit a relative or friend with a garden, it is possible to take it and inflate it in a few minutes so that the little ones can play all day. Obviously, it depends on the size, as some inflatable pools are larger than others.
Ideal for the little ones: these pools do not have rigid components. This means that their material is soft everywhere. One of the biggest advantages is that this material will cushion the children's movements, preventing them from getting hurt. Soft edges in a pool that will not be a problem against falls or bumps.
Pools for children
Children's and baby pools are pools intended for the little ones at home. These are products made with top-quality and safe materials for children. Pools that are easy to assemble and disassemble, many of them inflatable. They are usually small-sized pools, although there are different sizes for different age groups. Likewise, we can find PVC children's pools, tubular, inflatable, or small wooden pools. These pools are usually not equipped with filtration systems. They are often round or square. Regarding water volume, it will vary between 8 and 130 litres. It is also possible to find children's pools of 300 or 1,000 litres for older children.
Advantages of children's pools:
Ease of assembly: pools very easy to assemble as they are not large in size.
Ease of transport: these are pools we can take with us to many places so our children can stay entertained.
No extra maintenance required: since the water must be changed frequently, and they do not have a filtration pump, the only maintenance is to clean the pool well before refilling it.
How to install a removable pool?
When purchasing a removable pool, it is important to consider aspects such as the type of installation. It is not the same to have a pool that sits on the ground, a buried one, or a semi-buried one.
The most common is the above-ground pool that sits on the ground.
Simply by preparing the ground, placing a protective tarp or ground cover under the pool, we can assemble it without problems.
A semi-buried pool:
On the other hand, it is a pool partially buried and partially above ground. This structure allows it to adapt to difficult terrains such as sloped areas.
Finally, we have buried pools:
It is necessary to ensure that the removable pool model we purchase is designed to be buried, as not all models are suitable for burial.

Considerations for installing a removable pool
When assembling a removable pool, it is necessary to take into account some basic safety aspects and other details to extend the useful life of this product.
The ground must be firm and resistant
It is necessary to avoid installing a removable pool in places such as balconies, terraces, or very soft grounds. Besides firmness, we must consider the load weight. An empty pool will not weigh much, but a full pool can be excessively heavy for certain structures.
The ground must be completely levelled
Without stones, branches, or roots, as this would damage the bottom of the pool. If it is concrete or cement ground, we must check that the ground is well levelled before assembling the pool. Installing the pool on uneven ground would cause fatal damage.
To the space indicated by the manufacturer, we try to add half a metre more for comfortable positioning
To be able to move around the pool's surroundings and to install the ladder to access it. In this article you will find the necessary spaces to install each type of pool.
It is strictly forbidden to place the pool under power lines
Using common sense, we can also deduce that it is not a good idea to place the pool near trees with the risk of falling branches, etc.
How to maintain a removable pool?
Now that we have briefly seen how to install a removable pool and what considerations to take into account, let's see what actions we must carry out to perform optimal maintenance of our pool once it is assembled and operational.
pH measurement and correction
The pH level will indicate whether a substance is acidic or basic. These values range between 0 (maximum acid) and 14 (maximum basic). The correct pH level in a pool should be between 7.2 and 7.6. If measurements show values above or below, we can add products to increase or decrease the pH level.
Low pH water
If the pH is low, we will apply pH increaser to fix it.
High pH water
If the pH is high, we can fix it by applying pH reducer.
If you require more information about pH and how it affects the water in our pool, you can consult the following article on our blog How to control the pH of our pool?
Control chlorine levels
Chlorine is a chemical element that prevents the growth of microorganisms in the water. It is one of the most used treatments in all types of pools due to its effectiveness and ease of use, and it is one of the most common in removable pools.
To apply chlorine, chlorine dispensers such as floating buoys can be used. Also, the chlorine tablet should never be applied directly to the bottom of the pool because it would discolour the liner and could damage it.
Chlorine is an irritant product and must be handled carefully. The chlorine level should be between 0.6 and 1.5 parts per million (ppm). In our measuring devices section, you will find the perfect one to use in your pool.
The chlorine dose to apply will depend on the cubic metres of water in each pool.
Filter pump to filter the water
In very small pools, it is possible to opt to change the water regularly, but in pools with significant water volumes, this operation is not always possible or sustainable, so filtering the water in our pool is an essential process to have clean water with hygienic conditions suitable for bathing.
The filtering skimmer is the simplest solution when filtering the water in our pool. Inside it contains a filtration cartridge that retains particles and dirt. Periodically, we must replace the filtration cartridge.
Cartridge filter pumps use the same system as filtering skimmers but also include a motor or pump that sucks the pool water, passes it through the filtration cartridge, and then pushes it back into the pool.
Among all options, the sand filter pump offers the best results. They generally have a built-in suction pump that sucks the water, passes it through the sand or filtering medium, and returns it clean to the pool.
When deciding to install or replace the filtration equipment of our pool, we must pay attention to the following aspects:
Suction/impulsion ports: We must ensure that our pool has these ports to install the filtration system.
Connection diameter: The most common are 32mm, 36mm, or 38mm. There are adapters to fit different diameters, although it is optimal to acquire the filter pump with the same connection diameter as our pool.
Equipment power: It must be sufficient for the water volume of our pool. It is recommended to always acquire equipment with higher performance to obtain better results faster.
Pool cleaners for removable pools
It should be noted that for some models of removable pools, it is difficult to find automatic pool cleaners that can climb the walls. Also, robots are usually designed to adapt to the rigid surfaces of built-in pools. In removable pools, they often cause many problems on the plastic liner. Considering these factors, the most recommended option to vacuum the dirt from the floor of a removable pool are manual and battery-powered pool cleaners. If our filtration system allows it, we can also opt for some hydraulic models.
How to Dismantle a Freestanding Pool
In some cases, dismantling the pool during the winter season can be a good idea. This will allow us to avoid performing the necessary maintenance in winter and also free up the space occupied by the pool. These are the steps to follow if we decide to dismantle the pool and want to find it in perfect condition the following summer:
1. Drain the pool
2. Clean it thoroughly
3. Pool clean and dry
4. Dismantle its parts
5. Pack it properly
6. Store in a dry and safe place
If we decide to leave it assembled, we recommend using a winter cover to protect the water from falling debris; covering it will also optimise the effectiveness of the treatment chosen for water hibernation.
