Astralpool Compact Pool Salt
25 Kg bag of granulated salt for pools with salt chlorination systems. Sold in a value pack of 8 bags of 25 Kg (200 Kg in total). Dry, granulated sea salt compliant with European standard EN 16401/A (A quality salt).
This type of salt is compatible with all types of linings (gresite, porcelain, liner, polyester, painted concrete…). Product recommended by Fluidra and suitable for equipment from brands Astralpool, Zodiac, CTX, Idegis… As well as being compatible with any salt electrolysis equipment.
The salt has a crystalline appearance in solid granulated form with a salty taste. It is free from insolubles, aromas, and chemical flavours. Granulometry between 1 and 6 mm (90%).
What is salt used for?
Salt chlorination or salt electrolysis is a method of disinfecting pool water, both public and private, that replaces traditional methods using chlorine and/or bromine. Salt chlorination uses the chlorine present in salt as a natural disinfectant.
Through an electrolytic process where electric discharges are supplied, the salt breaks down into the two chemical elements it consists of (chlorine and sodium). The chlorine, in contact with water, develops a strong disinfectant character.
This process, much more natural and environmentally friendly, replaces or reduces the use of chemical products. It does not cause irritation to swimmers, does not cause discoloration, nor does it generate bad odours.
How much salt do I need for my salt chlorinator?
The amount of salt required for the proper operation of the salt chlorinator varies depending on the type of chlorinator and the amount of water. We recommend always consulting your salt chlorinator’s manual before dosing the salt amount, as these specifications may vary according to model and manufacturer.

You should dose between 1 and 2 g of salt per litre

These recommendations are for standard salinity chlorinators; the calculation is valid in a temperate climate. For hot climates, it is necessary to add 20% more salt.
